Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension agents are investigating an incident Monday night in Hastings where an officer shot and killed a suspect wanted in a stabbing.
The stabbing happened at a group home Monday afternoon where the suspect and the victim both lived. When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled, according to the BCA's initial report.

Shortly before 6 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call from a person who had spotted the stabbing suspect. Two officers responded and found the man walking on the 1500 block of Walnut Street, the BCA said.
"At one point during the encounter" an officer fired at the suspect, who died at the scene, the agency added. The body was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office for identification and autopsy.
The officers were wearing body cameras, the BCA said, although its statement did not say if the cameras were turned on or if a weapon was found near the suspect. The officers' squads were also equipped with dash cameras.
The BCA said the inquiry remains in its very early stages.
