A summery Sunday, with t-storm chances in some areas

Sunday severe thunderstorm risk for parts of northern Minn.

Most of the Twin Cities metro area saw little or no rain on Saturday. But some locations, including parts of Minneapolis and Bloomington, had late afternoon/early evening thunderstorms with downpours.

Rain and thunder opportunities

Scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected to linger into Saturday night in portions of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

As always, updated weather information can be heard on the Minnesota Public Radio Network, and you’ll also see updated weather info on the MPR News live weather blog.

You can see the recent local NWS radar loop here. The northeastern Minnesota radar loop and the northwestern Minnesota radar loop are also available. The recent radar loop for southwestern Minnesota can be found here, and the southeastern Minnesota loop here.

A cold front will slowly move into northwestern Minnesota as we go through Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms out ahead of it. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk of severe weather Sunday and Sunday night in portions of west-central, northwestern and north-central Minnesota:

Slight risk means that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible. The Sunday severe weather outlook will be updated by the SPC late Saturday night and several times on Sunday.

The Sunday batch of showers and thunderstorms will spread southeastward. Some showers and thunderstorms could arrive in the Twin Cities metro area Sunday evening.

Many areas will see some rain at times on Monday, with a thunderstorm also possible. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Monday and Monday evening:
