Interstate 90 at Austin in southern Minnesota has reopened after being closed for four hours due to flooding from several rounds of torrential rain.
A long stretch of I-90 in South Dakota remains closed due to flooding, too, along with numerous local roads across the region.
In southwestern Minnesota, MnDOT reported that State Highway 30 near Dovray and Westbrook is closed due to flooding. And numerous local and county roads are underwater in the wake of the storms that dropped more than a half-foot of rain in some areas. The city of Marshall was among the areas seeing flooding on Thursday.
And authorities are monitoring other highways that may be affected as the storm runoff moves downstream in the coming days. That includes State Highway 93 near Henderson, which was closed by flooding several times earlier this year.
In South Dakota, widespread overland and river flooding has forced the closure of a long stretch of I-90 west of Sioux Falls.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation reported that the interstate is closed from Sioux Falls west to U.S. Highway 281 near Plankinton.
