Daryl Hall and John Oates were No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 35 years ago this week with “Out of Touch.” The music video for the song features the two rockers strutting around a stage set with a giant drum kit – and by the last shot, they're both inside the bass drum.
As Oates later told the site Golden Age of Music Video, "We were looking at each other between takes saying, ‘So this is what it’s all come to! We are at the top of the pop music world, and we’re sealed inside a bass drum at 3 o’clock in the morning in a warehouse in Queens.’”
