Twin Cities artist Matt Allen, known on stage as Nur-D, moved to Rosemount, Minn., from the Bronx as a child. He told The Current he was a nerd as a kid and didn’t think hip-hop was for him. But then he started rapping about two years ago, and he quickly hit it big.
He’s one of a handful of artists joining DFL Gov. Tim Walz at Minnesota’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration. The performances begin at 10 a.m. at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul.
