Tuesday’s forecast
Tuesday will be a pleasant day to go outside and relish before the weather gets active again starting Wednesday!
Other than a few lingering clouds in southern Minnesota, that will clear through the morning, the state is seeing plenty of sunshine that will last through the afternoon.
Temperatures will also be comfortable, ranging from the upper 20s in northwestern Minnesota to mid-40s southeast.

Active weather Wednesday to Friday
Already by Tuesday evening, more clouds move back in and rain and snow spread across the state overnight into Wednesday. Chances for rain and snow linger through Wednesday. For southern Minnesota, most of the precipitation will be light rain or drizzle, with some light snow possibly mixing in. Northern Minnesota will see a mix of precipitation that could include drizzle, freezing drizzle, and snow.

The northern edge of Minnesota may see 2 to 3 inches of snow by Wednesday night.
Before Wednesday’s weather system clears out, a stronger storm will already be pushing more rain, snow, and gusty winds into the state on Thursday. That storm will slide to the south of Minnesota, so southern portions of the state will feel the greatest impacts.

It will also bring a decent amount of moisture with it, so rain could be moderate at times. Then, as temperatures fall, rain will switch to snow. Snow amounts are still uncertain as rain will mix in, but there is a good chance much of southern Minnesota could see 1 to 2 inches of snow, with higher amounts possible, especially for the southwestern corner of the state.

Any lingering snow should end by Friday morning, but temperatures will drop and it will stay windy, making for a noticeably colder day across the entire state.
The weekend
Sunshine finally returns by the weekend, but it will start off chilly thanks to colder air behind Thursday and Friday’s storm. Saturday morning, parts of northern Minnesota will be below zero, and highs will stay 5 to 10 degrees below average.

By Sunday, temperatures will be milder again.
