Minnesota’s wild October temperature roller coaster ride continues in the next week.
The Twin Cities hit 80 degrees on October 6 and 9. Temperatures approached 90-degrees in southwest Minnesota that week.
Think of our warm early October weather as the picture at the top of this post with mostly happy smiling faces and arms in the air as the roller coaster rolls over the top of the crest.
Then, temperatures crashed.

Now we watch as the jet stream lifts northward into Canada again later this week. That opens the door for milder air to return to Minnesota once again.

Jet stream lifts north
The jet stream is about to shift northward into Canada once again mater this week into next week.
Temperatures gradually climb through the 40s this week in much of Minnesota. Halloween 2020 looks mild, with high temperatures in the 50s south, and 40s north Saturday.
Next week looks even milder. Highs will probably hit the 60s across southern Minnesota, with some 50s up north. The early read for election day looks mild.
Say goodbye to our October snow on the ground in most of Minnesota.
