Parts of Minnesota see another humid and stormy day

Drier air finally starts pushing across some of the state

Most of Minnesota sees another warm and humid day Monday, with a risk for strong storms in eastern and southern portions of the state.

Monday’s forecast

The state is starting off warmer than average again Monday morning, with a few 40s northeast, most of the state in the 50s, and 60s south and west. Highs also stay warm, with almost all of the state making it back into the lower 80s, although it stays significantly cooler near Lake Superior.

Minnesota stays under a warm, humid, southerly flow again through the day. Under those conditions, much of the state sees cloudy skies again Monday, and there are already a couple isolated showers and storms in northern Minnesota Monday morning.

Drier air does finally push from the northwest by Monday afternoon, meaning skies start to clear and the humidity starts to lower in northwestern Minnesota by the afternoon.

Meanwhile, with eastern and southern Minnesota still in the humid airmass, showers and storms are likely, especially in the afternoon through early overnight period.

Isolated storms may become severe, with high winds and large hail as the primary risk.

By Tuesday, the drier air spread across all of Minnesota, but this also begins a much cooler temperature trend. That extended forecast will be updated around 9 a.m.
