A change in wind direction and speed should help scour out much of the smoke in Minnesota skies Wednesday.
Wildfire smoke persists at varying levels across Minnesota Tuesday afternoon. Air quality readings show the highest level of particulates in northern Minnesota and the Red River Valley.
Increased southerly wind flow Wednesday should begin to scour out most of the smoke across Minnesota. It may not be a totally clean process since there is still residual smoke to the south, but overall air quality readings should improve.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms Thursday may aid in washing some of the smoke from the air over Minnesota.
