The temperature hit 100 degrees Tuesday in Hazen, N.D.
On Sept. 28.
That appears to be the hottest temperatures ever recorded that far north, according to meteotologist and climate watcher Guy Walton and other weather and climate experts.
Dickenson, N.D., also hit 100 degrees. That’s just one of several heat records set Tuesday in the state.

Several high temperatures records were also set in the Red River Valley.
Additional high-temperature records were tied or set in northwest Minnesota as highs hit the lower 90s.

Highs Thursday continue to run above average across the Upper Midwest, but the core of this unprecedented out-of-season record heat wave is behind us.
