Central and southern Minnesota enjoy one more summer-like Saturday.
Saturday’s high temperature forecast map above looks more late-August than October. Highs push the 80-degree mark again in southern Minnesota Saturday. Highs in the 70s will be common in central Minnesota, with 60s in the north.
I’ve laid out the latest thinking on this weekend’s rainfall timing and severe risk in my post earlier Friday.
Notice the push of cooler temperatures Sunday with 60s north and lower 70s south.

Big changes next week
Next week starts tranquil enough. Monday and Tuesday look sunny and pleasant with highs in the 60s to low 70s.
But forecast models grab hold of a potentially bigger October-like storm system next Wednesday into Thursday. This system could deliver more widespread rainfall and wind to Minnesota. You know, like a more typical October storm?
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s GFS model tracks the system northward into Minnesota next Wednesday.
This system has the potential to deliver some big waves and surf to the North Shore next Wednesday.
Rainfall totals through next week suggest several inches are possible in the Dakotas and northern Minnesota. That would help alleviate the drought.
Frosty late next week?
A colder shot of air behind the storm next week appears ready to finally deliver some more typical October chill to the air. Frost looks likey again in parts of northern Minnesota late next week.
And highs may not climb out of the 50s by next Friday.
Stay tuned.
