Cool start to November; northern Minnesota could see a few rain/snow showers Monday

November temperature outlook has been updated

The Sunday high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 49 degrees. That’s just one degree shy of our average Halloween high in the Twin Cities, but gusty winds made it feel chilly.

Trick-or-treaters in Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have temps in the 30s to lower 40s as they head out Sunday evening. Winds will be gusty. Parts of far northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin could see a few scattered rain showers and/or light snow showers Sunday evening. A stray sprinkle or snowflake cannot be ruled out in central Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin.

You can hear updated weather information for Minnesota and western Wisconsin on the Minnesota Public Radio News network, and you can see updated weather info on the MPR News live weather blog.

Cool temps linger this week

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 40s Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by mid 40s Thursday and upper 40s on Friday. We could see 50s return next weekend. Generally dry weather is expected this week.

November temperature outlook

The NWS Climate Prediction Center’s revised November temperature outlook shows equal chances of above-normal and below normal temps in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

There is a slight tendency for the average monthly temp to be above-normal in northeastern Minnesota.

Maybe our cool start to November will be balanced out by some milder temps during the second week of the month.

Average high temp takes a big dip

Our average Twin Cities high temp goes from 66 degrees on Oct. 1 to 50 degrees on Oct. 31. Our average Twin Cities high temp goes from 50 degrees on Nov. 1 to 35 degrees on Nov. 30. In a two-month time span our average Twin Cities high temp takes an impressive dip of 31 degrees.

Of course we see an equally impressive rise in our average high temp each spring.
