Rare record cold in the ‘nation’s ice box’
The clear skies and light winds Monday night led to some chilly temperatures. International Falls, Minn., nicknamed the nation’s ice box, broke a record, bottoming out at 8 degrees Tuesday morning.
The old record for the date was 15 in 1947. This is significant because record highs outpace record lows by 2 to 1 these days with climate change.
