Much more sunshine will grace Minnesota Thursday along with warmer temperatures for most. Temperatures continue to warm into Saturday but we’ll also have the chance of a few storms.
Hurray for sunshine!
After a soggy Wednesday (we picked up over a half-inch of rain for many places) we see brighter conditions Thursday for most. Our latest rainfall put the Twin Cities well over 5 inches of spring precipitation (meteorological spring, i.e. since March 1), that’s more than one and a half times the normal value.
Northern Minnesota will have more clouds than the south.
Temperatures will reflect the sunshine well today. Most of central and southern Minnesota will be well into the 50s while the northern third or so of the state doesn’t get out of the 40s.

The warming trend continues into Friday and Saturday but so does an increase in dew points, resulting in some unsettled weather potentially. The surge in warmer, more moist air northward could touch off some Friday morning showers and then strong storms in Nebraska late Friday. We could see what’s left of that Friday night. Some of those could remain strong.
High temperatures Saturday will top out well into the 70s for much of central and southern Minnesota for the first time since October and coming late.
A cold front will touch off a few late-day thunderstorms as well.
Cooler again early next week
Temperatures are back to below normal readings, largely in the 50s and 40s Sunday into early next week but the trend appears to be back up by late in the week as we get closer to the start of May.
