This is how you draw it up, Minnesota.

  • Deep blue June sky.

  • Bright sunshine with a few pristine white accent clouds.

  • Pleasantly warm afternoons in the upper 70s.

  • Comfortable dew points in the 30s and 40s.

  • Gentle breezes.

My unscientific poll of MPR Weather listeners shows that 98.7 percent of Minnesotans approve of today’s weather. The other 1.3 percent? Well, you can’t please all the people all the time.

Thursday delivers a copy/paste weather day. Look for plenty of sun and highs in the upper 70s in the Twin Cities. Most of Minnesota basks in the 70s again Thursday afternoon.

Friday brings another fabulous weather day, with just a slim chance for a few isolated showers or a thunderstorm.

Saturday thunder?

Forecast models are picking up on a low-pressure system Saturday. The system doesn’t look super strong, but it likely has enough oomph to produce a few scattered showers and thunderstorms from late Friday night through Saturday.

NOAA’s NAM model gives you the notion of scattered rain and possible thunder cells moving southeast across Minnesota Saturday. The loop below runs between 1 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday.

Steamy next week

Heat and humidity build across much of Minnesota early next week. Right now the hottest day looks like Tuesday. Highs should push into the upper 80s and 90s in southern Minnesota including the Twin Cities.

Wednesday’s latest European model run cranks out at least 93 degrees for the Twin Cities next Tuesday.

With dew points forecast near 70 degrees that would push heat index values over 100 degrees in parts of Minnesota next Tuesday.

Stay tuned.
