Friday will be a continuation of cold, cloudy and breezy conditions with scattered morning snow showers turning to hit and miss rain showers in the afternoon. Highs will be mainly in the 40s statewide.
Scattered snow and rain showers
Many parts of northern Minnesota are waking up to some fresh, slushy wet snow. Duluth reported 1.8 inches of snow so far and Proctor was at 3 inches. We’re even seeing patches of slushy accumulation on some grassy surfaces farther south, including the Twin Cities area. Scattered snow showers will affect much of Minnesota this morning but become more hit and miss rain showers by afternoon as temperatures warm some.

High temperatures will only warm into the 40s across Minnesota Friday afternoon and with a persistent northwest breeze at 10-15 mph keeping it feeling like it’s in the 30s all day.

Clouds linger into the weekend; continued cold
The cold, cloudy pattern will persist into the weekend. Don’t look for much in the way of sunshine except for southwest Minnesota until probably Monday.

This pesky upper level low is very cold air aloft creating instability that continuously develops cloud cover. There are still signs of a warm up later next week, but before that it will get even colder for Monday and Tuesday.
