Our gusty and dusty Aug-tober weekend brought record temperatures to parts of Minnesota for late October. Check out the dust plumes that blew from Kansas and Nebraska toward Minnesota last weekend.
Daily highs last weekend approached record levels. We hit 77 degrees in the Twin Cities Saturday and 78 Sunday. Those temperatures are about 22 degrees above the average high of 55 degrees last weekend. (Records are in the lower 80s for both days.)
The Twin Cities did set a record warm minimum temperature Saturday of 59 degrees. We broke the previous record of 58 set in 2000.
Monday brought seasonably cooler temperatures and scattered rain showers. Precipitation looks light, a few hundredths of an inch in most places.

So far in October, we’ve recorded just 16 one-hundredths (.16) of precipitation at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. That’s the fifth driest total for October.
We’ll add a little rain Monday, but it still looks like this month will finish as one of the top eight driest Octobers on record.
Another mild October weekend ahead
This week brings more seasonal temperatures with highs in the 50s south and 40s north.

Southerly winds return to Minnesota starting Friday. A milder air mass with late-October sunshine will boost highs into the 60s once again across much of southern and western Minnesota.

The early look at Halloween 2022 looks mild. Highs around 60 in the Twin Cities look most likely.

Temperatures look significantly colder later next week.
