Large north-to-south temperature contrasts will persist Tuesday across Minnesota with highs ranging from the single digits and low teens north to near 30 in southern Minnesota.
The first of two clipper systems brings snow showers to northern Minnesota Tuesday with another Wednesday.
Frigid contrast with two snow shower chances
Northern Minnesota’s in the grip of arctic air. Early Tuesday, International Falls dipped to minus 19 and Roseau and Warroad bottomed out at minus 17 before clouds rolled in, pushing temperatures up some.
Parts of northwestern Minnesota will stay in the single digits Tuesday afternoon while southeastern Minnesota will be near 30 degrees.

Flowing along this edge of the cold in northern Minnesota are fast-moving clipper systems bringing snow showers.
There’s a winter weather advisory for portions of northwestern Minnesota through 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Tuesday’s snow comes with the first clipper. A second clipper arrives Wednesday.
Snowfall amounts from both systems will be about 1 to 2 or 3 inches with Wednesday’s track being ever so slightly more south.
It’ll be another cold night north Tuesday night with temperatures once again falling into the teens to near minus 20 for parts of northwestern Minnesota.
Storm possible Thursday night into Friday
A storm system that had looked to stay to our south is starting to march north in its track. We’ll have to keep an eye on this storm for Thursday night into Friday that could bring wet snow or rain to parts of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
It’ll also be milder, with highs returning to the 30s or even near 40 for southern Minnesota Friday into the weekend.
