Most of Minnesota had plenty of sunshine and fairly typical January temperatures on Sunday.
The Sunday high temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 25 degrees. Our average Twin Cities high temp is 24 degrees this time of year.
Fog/freezing fog
Winds will be fairly light Sunday night, which will allow areas of fog and freezing fog to develop in Minnesota and western Wisconsin and parts of Iowa. The fog and freezing fog will linger into Monday morning in some areas.

Temperature trends
Monday highs will be in the 20s in many areas, with some lower 30s in southeastern Minnesota and southwestern Wisconsin:
Many spots in the Twin Cities metro area will reach the upper 20s.
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach 30 degrees on Tuesday, followed by mid 30s Wednesday and then upper 20s Thursday and Friday.
No really cold air is in sight. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a strong tendency for warmer than normal temps in Minnesota and Wisconsin next weekend and into the start of the following week:
Tuesday PM flake chance
A batch of snow may spread across portions of Minnesota and Wisconsin Tuesday evening into early Wednesday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 5 p.m. Tuesday to 11 p.m. Tuesday:
Some spots could see an inch or so of snow by the time it ends Wednesday morning. Check forecast updates.
California braces for more rain
Parts of California saw torrential rain at the end of December and into the start of 2023:
A couple more waves of substantial rain are headed toward California over the next two days, with heavy snow expected in the mountains.
NOAA’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 10 p.m. Sunday to 9 p.m. Tuesday:
A variety of flood watches, high wind warnings and winter storm warnings (in the mountains) have been posted for California.
