Most of Minnesota except the Twin Cities and areas of southern Minnesota have cooled below zero this Friday morning. A wind chill advisory continues for much of northeastern Minnesota until 9 a.m.
But look for sunshine and an increasing southwest breeze to warm us to seasonable temperatures in the afternoon. A few flurries are possible near the Canadian border. High temperatures will be from the mid 20s to the low 30s. The Twin Cities should have a sunny high near 29 with a wind becoming southwest 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.
Milder weekend
Warmer temperatures will return for this weekend. Highs on Saturday should be upper 20s to mid 30s under mostly cloudy skies.
Sunday might be a few degrees cooler as a weak weather system slides across the state. A dusting of light snow seems likely for northern and central Minnesota.
Next week looks active
An Alberta Clipper is forecast to drop a few inches of snow on Minnesota on Monday. Then a much larger storm will head our way from Colorado toward midweek. There is a good chance for significant snowfall.
