Tuesday will be hot in southeast Minnesota with storms developing across central Minnesota. An air quality alert is posted for northwest Minnesota into early Wednesday. It will be cooler statewide Wednesday.
Hot south with storms possible Tuesday
A heat advisory continues for the Twin Cities and southeast Minnesota through Tuesday evening.
Look for one more hot day Tuesday for much of southeast Minnesota with highs again in the 90s. It will be considerably cooler behind a cool front in northwest Minnesota.
That cool front will be the focus for thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening.

An air quality alert is posted for northwest Minnesota through early Wednesday due to wildfire smoke. Air quality is forecast to reach an unhealthy (orange) level for sensitive groups at times.

Cooler Wednesday
Behind the cool front it will be much cooler with highs mainly in the 60s to near 70 Wednesday and Thursday.
Temps should rebound by the end of the week and weekend into the 70s and even low 80s.
