Monday will be cold and breezy but with sunshine for most of central and southern Minnesota. Overnight will see lows fall into the single digits for most. Warmer weather moves in for midweek.

Cold start to the week with milder air ahead

Monday will be cold and breezy. Look for sunshine for most of central and southern Minnesota while northern Minnesota sees some lingering clouds. Highs will range from the low to mid-20s in southern Minnesota to just teens north. Those readings are more than 10 degrees colder than normal.

Wind chills by the afternoon will still be mostly in the single digits to near zero north as northwest winds blow at 10-17 mph. 

Monday night will be the coldest night of the season for many, with lows falling into the single digits for most. A few spots on the Iron Range could be subzero while the Twin Cities urban heat island hangs onto the low teens.

Tuesday will be warmer but still chilly with highs in the 20s and 30s, but warmer readings will be appearing in western Minnesota. Some spots could be near 40 in southwest Minnesota. There will be more clouds around as well. 

Wednesday will be warmer and above normal as our pattern switches from a cold northwest flow to zonal (west to east) flow. Look for widespread 40s in southern Minnesota Wednesday afternoon. We’ll also have abundant sunshine Wednesday through Friday.
