The week following the new year brought the sunniest day since the end of December — and a drop in the trend of above-average temperatures.
According to retired climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, although January started with the warmest temperatures since 2007, this weekend is signaling an opposite trend. Many areas of the state are expected to be far below freezing.
Additionally, many Minnesotans may have noticed intense cloud coverage recently. Fortunately, the sun peaked out for a bit on Thursday. MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Seeley about the cold weather and cloudy skies on this week’s weather chat.
