A major wintry storm will dump heavy snow across much of Wisconsin and produce accumulations in southeastern Minnesota Tuesday night.
The system is a panhandle hook-type storm. It winds up in the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandle region and spins across southern Lake Michigan Wednesday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows the snow shield intensifying across Wisconsin and clipping southeastern Minnesota Tuesday night into Wednesday:

Snowfall totals will likely reach 12 inches with this system across much of central and eastern Wisconsin. The heaviest snowfall will likely fall in northeastern Wisconsin around Green Bay.
Accumulating snow will also fall across southeastern Minnesota. Anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of snow is likely from Rochester to Winona and southeast toward Hokah and through Houston County.
Milder late this week
Sunshine will return to Minnesota and temperatures will moderate later this week. Late Thursday, Friday and Saturday look sunny across our region.
Highs will reach the 50s once again by Friday and Saturday.
A cooler spell early next week gives way to what could be the warmest temperature so far this year for Minnesota around the weekend of April 13-14. NOAA’s Global Forecast System model is cranking out highs in the mid to upper 70s that weekend.
