Rain and occasional snow were above average in April. According to climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley, about one-third of all the days in April brought measurable rainfall.
In the statewide climate observation network, there were 78 record daily rainfalls during April. One swath of the state reported 3 to 5 inches during the month. And while most of the month’s precipitation was unfrozen, there were still some reports of 1 to 3 inches of snowfall.
MPR News host Phil Picardi spoke with Seeley about the precipitation in April and what’s ahead in May in the weekly Seeley weather chat.
