July has started off cooler and wetter than normal but Minnesota’s first 90 degree Fahrenheit day will be this weekend. According to climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley that heat we expect to see across the state will kick-off a warmer trend for the rest of July.

April through June ended with record-setting rainfall. July saw some of that precipitation carry over within the first week with state climate stations reporting over a dozen new daily rainfall amounts. A couple include, 2.36 inches of rain at Baudette on July 1 and 2.10 inches at Milaca.

MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Seeley about the changing trend in their weekly weather chat.

And congratulations to Seeley and his family. He will be officiating his daughter Emma’s wedding on July 13.
