Rondo Days returned to St. Paul on Saturday for the first time since before the pandemic, with a pair of legendary rappers — MC Lyte and Rakim — headlining the music lineup.

It took place at Hallie Q. Brown Community Center in St. Paul. The free event also included food, vendors, a kids’ area and other activities.

The festival was founded more than 40 years ago to celebrate the close-knit, historically Black Rondo neighborhood that was bulldozed to make way for Interstate 94 in the 1960s.
