There are 35 County Commissioner races with a primary this year. Twenty-six counties are represented in these races, with some counties having multiple seats on the ballot.
Candidates who completed the MPR News Voter Guide questionnaire about their past experience and priorities if elected focused on addressing infrastructure, roads, economic growth, and housing costs.
These are the County Commissioner races:
County commissioners oversee community activities and operations and coordinate with other county offices, such as the sheriffs. Their terms are four years. No education or prior experience is required for this position, but many draw connections between roles of leadership they have held.
