We’re wrapping up our second August as I type this post. September 2024 is the warmest on record. This month (70.3 degrees) is almost as warm as August! (71.5 degrees)
The Twin Cities area is running 6.5 degrees warmer than normal this month. It’s been closer to 10 degrees warmer than normal this month across northwestern Minnesota.
Cold front blows in
A cold front is sweeping through Minnesota Monday evening. Temperatures behind the front are already in the 50s in the far north.

Watch the wind direction change and scour out the unseasonably warm air in Minnesota overnight into Tuesday morning.
By morning, temperatures will bottom out around 40 degrees in the north and close to 50 in the Twin Cities.
Tuesday brings a much cooler northwest breeze with highs in the 60s.
Temperatures will rebound Wednesday on southwest winds into the 70s and even some lower 80s in the south.
Highs in the 70s south and 60s north look likely next weekend. The overall temperature outlooks still lean warmer than normal throughout most of October.
