Another day of sun Tuesday before rain moves in Wednesday
We have another day of cool sunshine Tuesday. Highs will be mostly in the 40s across the state, though a few lucky places in west-central Minnesota will see low 50s. Winds will increase ahead of our next storm system. South winds will blow at 10-20 mph in eastern Minnesota, but increase to 15-30 mph in western Minnesota.
The next chance of rain develops for Wednesday as a system makes its way out of the Rockies and into the central U.S. Showers will likely develop late Tuesday night into early Wednesday in southwest Minnesota and expand east into the day and wrap up Wednesday night.
Rainfall could range from one-quarter to three-quarters of an inch in central and southern Minnesota out of this next system, with some places receiving 1 inch or more in the southwest.
Behind the system, clouds will slowly decrease Thursday and temperatures will actually move upward for Friday and Saturday. Much of central and southern Minnesota will see highs well into the 50s — nearly 10 degrees above normal.
The milder weather continues into early next week and the active pattern looks to also continue through next week. But by the end of the week we may see a shift towards colder temperatures. That could also spell snow for at least some of us by the end of next week.
