The often dreaded wind chill factor reared up Tuesday morning across Minnesota. Chilly temperatures in the 20s and 30s combined with gusty winds produced the coldest wind chill readings of the season so far for much of Minnesota. You can see on the map above Tuesday afternoon wind chills are still in the 30s across most of Minnesota.
Here are some select wind chill readings from early Tuesday morning around Minnesota.
Twin Cities: 24 degrees
St. Cloud: 22 degrees
Duluth: 20 degrees
Rochester: 19 degrees
Moorhead: 18 degrees
International Falls: 15 degrees
Hibbing: 9 degrees
Temperatures have recovered into the 40s Tuesday afternoon but brisk winds continue to make it feel like the 30s.
Next rain Wednesday
Our next weather system arrives Wednesday. Forecast model trends Tuesday suggest the heaviest rainfall will occur west of the Twin Cities across much of southwest and central Minnesota. NOAA’s FV3 model shows scattered showers between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Rainfall totals will generally be lighter in the Twin Cities, with the potential for .50” or more in much of southwest and central Minnesota to the west.
Temperatures Wednesday will be in the 40s across most of Minnesota.
