Colder air departs; late-week warming trend
We’ll remain below normal Tuesday and Wednesday as cold air lingers. We’ll have a mix of clouds and sun Monday with highs near 20 in southern Minnesota to just single digits north.
It’ll be another subzero night for northern Minnesota overnight Monday under partly cloudy skies.
Wednesday will be briefly chillier with highs ranging from the mid-teens in the Twin Cities to single digits north, but southwestern Minnesota will see low 20s.

We’re still watching a couple clipper systems late Thursday and again Sunday that could bring some light snowfall. The Thursday system looks pretty light. The best chance of an inch or more is in northwestern Minnesota.
Another clipper develops snow showers Saturday night into Sunday. That one looks potentially more significant with a little more moisture and better atmospheric dynamics. Perhaps as much as 2 or more inches could fall in some spots.
Unfortunately for snow lovers, the big storms remain well to our south with Texas poised for a big winter storm Thursday.
You can tell where the storm track has been lately as we’ve been stuck in the cold and the significant snow has stretched from the central Plains to the mid-Atlantic states. Washington, D.C., saw 5 to 7 inches of snow Monday while parts of Maryland saw a foot!
Our temperatures will modify toward normal, mostly in the 20s for central and southern Minnesota, Thursday into the weekend.
