First of two snow chances moves through Thursday
Light snow showers are developing west to east through the day Thursday. Anticipate some snow showers for the evening commute in the Twin Cities. Snow showers will taper off through the night.
Most amounts in central and southern Minnesota will be less than one-half inch, but some spots in northern Minnesota could see 1 to 2 inches of snowfall.
Temperatures will also be milder Thursday — a couple degrees above normal even. Highs will be mostly in the 20s across the state.

Temperatures will remain similar heading into the weekend when the next clipper system potentially brings more snow showers Saturday night.
There’s also more moisture with that system that could yield slightly higher snowfall amounts. Some models have started to shift more north with the track, however, so we’ll be watching future forecast model runs closely.
It will also be briefly colder Monday and Tuesday behind the second clipper. A potent chunk of cold air will drop high temps into the single digits and even below zero Monday north. Overnight lows will be subzero statewide Monday night.
Temperatures will warm quickly to near 30 by late next week in southern Minnesota.
