We’re nearly out of the deep freeze! Another cold subzero night is ahead, with lows dipping into the single digits and teens below zero. As skies clear overnight, Thursday will bring sunshine and a warmer day, with highs climbing back into the double digits above zero!
Frigid Wednesday night
Less than 24 hours to go of this extreme cold! We’ve endured over 56 hours of temperatures at zero or below.
This current deep freeze really gave January’s cold spell a run for its money, although it was a bit milder this time. In January, the coldest temperatures in the Twin Cities hit 19 below zero, while our most recent cold snap saw a low of 15 below zero.
Low temperatures for Wednesday night will once again drop into the single digits and teens below zero.

Wind chill values will range from 15 to 25 degrees below zero with a northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph.
Winds will be a bit stronger in southern Minnesota, where winds chills could drop to 25 to 30 degrees below zero, prompting a cold weather advisory until Thursday morning.
Sunny, warmer Thursday
Our skies will clear out overnight, leaving us with bright February sunshine for Thursday.
High temperatures will finally climb into the double digits above zero for eastern Minnesota, while western areas will see highs in the single digits above zero.
It looks like a gradual warmup is on the way as we head into the weekend. Our seasonal high has finally reached the 30s. Those 30s — along with a chance of reaching the 40s in southwestern Minnesota — will stick around through the weekend!
