We’ll have sunshine and slightly above-normal temperatures on this first day of spring. Friday will be milder for southern Minnesota. We’re watching for potential rain and snow for Sunday.
Seasonable with sunshine Thursday to start spring
It’s the first day of spring and it will be a pretty decent day. We’ll have sunshine with high temperatures about 5 degrees above normal for most. Much of the state will see highs in the 40s to even near 50.

Friday will be even milder for southern Minnesota ahead of a cold front. That front will create quite the contrast in temperatures ranging from the 50s south to the 20s northwest.

Behind the front it will be cooler but close to normal with highs both Saturday and Sunday in the 40s for southern Minnesota and 30s north.
The main focus will be the next disturbance that is likely to produce rain and snow for Minnesota again Saturday night into Sunday. The Twin Cities looks to receive mainly rain with some snow mixing in while northern Minnesota will see mostly snow.

Most forecast models favor northeastern Minnesota for the heaviest snowfall potential at this point, but that could change.
