Winds continue to howl from the northwest in the wake of Sunday's cold front. Lingering cloud cover will keep temperatures near the seasonal average of the mid-50s. Meanwhile, the warm weekend has led to more ice outs across lakes in central Minnesota.
Breezy start
We’re kicking off the week with a breezy start as gusts reach 35 to nearly 45 mph.

Below is a list of the strongest wind gusts recorded early Monday:
Twin Cities — 38 mph
Duluth — 35 mph
Willmar — 40 mph
Montevideo — 41 mph
New Ulm — 38 mph
Preston — 44 mph
Madison — 43 mph
Alexandria — 38 mph
St. Cloud — 37 mph
Rochester — 41 mph
Breezy winds will persist through Monday and Tuesday, gradually diminishing by Tuesday night thanks to high pressure to our west and a low-pressure system over the Great Lakes.

High temperatures will climb into the low to mid-50s across southern Minnesota, while northeastern Minnesota will see cooler 30s with ongoing rain and snow showers.

Weekend warmth brings ice out to central Minnesota lakes
Warm weekend temperatures in the 60s to mid-70s have led to more ice outs on lakes in central Minnesota. Ice out has been reported as far north as Becker County at Canary Lake.

We’re starting the work week with cooler temperatures, as seasonal highs in the 50s and 40s settle in for Monday and Tuesday. However, a warm-up is on the way with temperatures returning to the 60s by Wednesday and Thursday.
