Fires and vandalism after the killing of George Floyd have left swaths of Minneapolis in need of repair. While the cleanup, in many cases, began hours after riots subsided, the harder work of rebuilding is just gearing up. In north Minneapolis, a bar and a plant shop have teamed up to help businesses start that process.
North Minneapolis church offers food lifeline
In places where access to food and other household needs was already limited, the arson and looting that grew out of some protests made the problem worse. At the corner of Broadway and Aldrich avenues in north Minneapolis, Sanctuary Covenant church has become the only place to pick up groceries for blocks.
