
Meet Nicole Johnson
Nicole Johnson is an associate digital producer at MPR News.
Born and raised in Peru, Nicole moved to the United States — and Minnesota — in 2021 and joined MPR News in 2022. Before moving to the U.S., Nicole worked as a reporter and commercial and digital marketing advisor at the Peruvian Chamber of Tourism. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she worked as a digital marketing contractor for a Peruvian tourism outlet. After relocating to the U.S., she worked as a freelance translator and copywriter for the online platform Crowd Content.
Nicole was awarded an Eric Sevareid Award from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association in 2023 for her work on Climate Cast. She has a bachelor’s degree in communications with minors in journalism and corporate communication from the University of Lima, and a master’s degree in digital journalism from Middlesex University London.
Nicole loves to explore the North Shore, her favorite season in Minnesota is fall and tater tot hot dish changed her life.
