Less than six months after a GOP-backed Minnesota constitutional amendment aimed at banning same-sex marriage failed at the polls, the new Democratic-led Legislature voted Thursday, May 9, 2013, to legalize it. As lawmakers debated and voted, thousands of supporters and opponents of the bill rallied in the Capitol's rotunda.
