On Thursday, Walz is expected to announce a host of incentives to prompt more Minnesotans to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
In a statement, Walz spokesperson Teddy Tschann said that 100,000 people who are vaccinated between Memorial Day weekend and the end of June will be eligible for items including state park passes, fishing licenses and tickets to the Minnesota State Fair.

Family members of three children struck by gunfire in Minneapolis in recent weeks joined city leaders Sunday for an urgent, renewed push for the arrest of those responsible. That includes a $30,000 reward now being offered by the Minneapolis business community for information leading to arrests in those shootings — $10,000 for each case.

A former St. Paul police officer faces sentencing in federal court Friday morning 18 months after a jury convicted him of using excessive force during an arrest. Nearly five years ago officers apparently mistook Frank Baker for a suspect and turned a K9 on him. As the dog mauled Baker's leg, Officer Brett Palkowitch kicked Baker repeatedly. Baker, who is Black, also suffered seven broken ribs and collapsed lungs.

Aniya Allen, riding in her mother’s car, was struck after they were suddenly caught in an exchange of gunfire near 36th and Penn avenues North. The girl died at Hennepin Healthcare two days later. She was the third child struck by bullets in the city recently.
