Democrat Maureen Reed says she will put $250,000 of her own money into her campaign to unseat Republican Michele Bachmann in Minnesota's 6th District.
Reed's campaign said Thursday that she raised $204,000 in the first three months of the year, lagging Democratic rival Tarryl Clark, who raised $505,000 in the same period.
The campaign says the personal loan will pump up Reed's campaign bank balance to $683,000.
Reed and Clark are competing in a Democratic primary that will determine who faces Bachmann in November. The 6th District covers the northern Twin Cities suburbs and stretches west past St. Cloud.
Thursday is the deadline for congressional candidates to report their fundraising.
