A liberal group called The Alliance for a Better Minnesota reports spending nearly $3 million on ads criticizing Republican Tom Emmer.

Wednesday is the deadline for independent groups to report how much they're raising and spending on this year's political campaign in Minnesota.

The Alliance for a Better Minnesota reported in its latest campaign filing that it spent $2.8 million on ads on Google, Facebook and TV to criticize Republican Tom Emmer.

The group has run ads criticizing Emmer's drunken driving arrests, his stance on minimum wage and his missed votes in the Legislature. The group is funded by labor unions, wealthy DFL donors and Native American tribes.

Meanwhile, the corporate backed group MN Forward reports raising $2.3 million since the start of the year. Seventeen businesses gave to the group since the August 10 primary, including 3M, which gave $100,000.

Target Corporation has been heavily criticized by gay rights groups for giving to the fund because it supports Republican Tom Emmer.
