2024 likely to be one of the top 3 warmest years in Minnesota history

With a warmer than average summer and autumn — and winter is exhibiting much of the same — 2024 is likely to be one of the top three warmest years in Minnesota history.

“I think we might beat both 1987 and 2012 as the warmest year,” said meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley.

Seeley said that he does expect this trend to fall off as the state enters the month of January. Next month will give us what he called a “typical Minnesota winter signature.”
