Winter is coming: 5 ways to prep for cold weather hazards
This is Winter Hazard Awareness Week in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It serves as an important reminder to stay informed about the potential hazards of winter weather so we can be better prepared to face whatever challenges Mother Nature may bring during the colder months.
Calm start to Monday before the storm
Sunday evening into early Monday will bring clear skies and calm conditions. However, our next weather system will arrive late Monday afternoon, bringing increased cloud cover and rain showers. Cooler temperatures will follow, setting the stage for our next chance for light snow Tuesday night.
Sunny Sunday ahead with continued breezy winds
Another sunny weekend day with above-average temperatures in the low 50s. Winds won't be as strong as Saturday, but there will still be occasional gusts. The dry weather will last through early Monday, before a deluge of rain moves in.
Winds continue Saturday night; sunshine expected Sunday
A breezy Saturday will give way to a gusty Saturday evening, with winds continuing from the south-southeast, gusting over 25 mph. Overnight temperatures will be unusually mild, hovering around the typical daytime highs for this time of year.
What we know about next week's snow
A strong low-pressure system will impact the Central Plains next week, bringing multiple waves of precipitation and strong winds. Temperatures will cool to seasonal averages as the system moves through.
